Adoption Services
If you choose to continue your pregnancy and choose not to parent the child, adoption is an alternative. There are many local, state, and national resources for adoption including the Department of Family and Children’s Services, private organizations, and adoption attorneys. Research adoption resources in your area who can assist with and provide guidance during this process.
Abortion Services
The University Health Center does not provide abortion care and there are no abortion-care providers in Athens, GA. Most abortions are provided during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy (first trimester). Abortions provided during the first trimester are safer and less expensive than abortions later in pregnancy. Ask staff to describe their services and clarify any concerns you have about the procedure and the clinic you are considering. The National Network of Abortion Funds offers financial assistance or practical support (rides, lodging) for those in need (visit abortionfunds.org for more info).
